What fails and why

Why AdBlue heaters fail

AdBlue freezes at around minus 11°C, so the tank, pump and lines are heated. If a heater element, relay or wire fails, the system cannot thaw the fluid, dosing stops and the warning and countdown follow.

Heater faults show up most in winter. The heater is often built into the tank module, so we test the circuit and resistance first to find exactly what has failed. See AdBlue heater failure symptoms.

Questions

AdBlue heater repair: your questions

Why does the warning only appear in winter?

Because the heater is only needed when the fluid is cold. A failed heater may go unnoticed until the first frosts.

Can the heater be replaced on its own?

Sometimes. On many vehicles it is part of the tank module or a heated line, which is replaced instead. We confirm before quoting.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what has failed. Prices start from £150 and we quote before any work.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We are fully mobile across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
