What fails and why

What the AdBlue pump does

The pump draws AdBlue from the tank and pressurises it for the dosing injector. When it weakens or fails, the system cannot build pressure and logs low-pressure codes, then warns and counts down.

On many vans and cars the pump is part of a module inside the AdBlue tank, so the repair can mean replacing the module. Blocked filters, lines or a frozen system can also mimic a failed pump, which is why we test first. See pump fault vs heater fault.

Questions

AdBlue pump repair: your questions

How do I know it is the pump?

Low-pressure codes are a clue, but filters, lines, heaters and wiring can cause similar faults. We test pressure and the pump circuit before replacing anything.

Can the pump be replaced on its own?

On some vehicles, yes. On others the pump is built into the tank module and the module is replaced. We tell you which before quoting.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the vehicle and whether it is a pump or a full module. Prices start from £150 and we quote before any work.

Do you come to me?
